                                                   Case Analysis

  1. An attractive lakeside community of 5,000 persons is presently a popular tourist center, primarily because of its appeal to spots enthusiast and its proximity to a magnificent state park. However, tourist expenditures are low, principally because of the lack of entertainment in the community. The movie theatre closed three years ago, and there is virtually no entertainment expect that to be found in a couple of beer taverns. The town and surrounding countryside are rich in history, but the only museum is a small one in the front part of a bar.


  1. How could a museum and other entertainment be provided?
  2. How will you promote this place if you were to boost tourism?
  3. You have accepted a United Nations Development Program assignment in tourism to a small country. Your first task is to make financial calculations concerning the economic feasibility for a resort development.
  4. What factors do you consider when beginning this process?
  5. Assuming your findings result in a favourable conclusion what would your next step be?
